We’ve had some really beautiful weather recently, cold air, but warm in the sunshine. I hope our visitors appreciated it. My own guide to how many visitors we have is: how easy is it to get out from the bottom of Church Hill into St Brannock’s Road? Not easy at the moment.

What, I wonder, do the Barnstaple-based councillors of the North Devon District Council so when they want to go to the loo?
Bert Gear has stuck to his promise to donate his prize in the competition I ran a few weeks ago (a £50 voucher from Pedlar’s) to the Combe Christmas appeal. Thanks, Bert. Very generous. When I see the treasurer for Combe Christmas, I will pass it on. Oops. I am the treasurer.

Tony Olsson, as usual, has some interesting and useful comments to make on my last blog. Just one thing, Tony. I don’t think it is fair to blame the Tories for everything. Obviously, the Black Death and the Great Fire of London are their fault. They cannot be held blameless for the fall of the Roman, and possibly British, Empires.
